 Union County announced a new confirmed COVID-19 case today. This brings the total to five confirmed cases in the county of which two have not yet recovered. The case was a contact to a confirmed case. Center for Human Development is working to contact and isolate or quarantine those who may have been in close contact with this individual. A close contact is defined as anyone within six feet of the individual for more than 15 minutes. If you are identified through this investigation as someone that may be at risk for COVID-19, public health will contact you.

The reopening Phase 1 sector guidance provided by the Governor is available online at www.union-county.org. Union County and the Union County Chamber of Commerce will also provide paper copies of the sector guidance at their offices. The guidance can be picked up during business hours only at the Chamber (207 Depot Street) or County Administrative Office foyer (1106 K Avenue). If you know any technologically challenged business owners that would benefit from a paper copy, please let them know they are available.

Earlier today, Union County Commissioner Matt Scarfo appeared in a video on the NE Oregon Joint Information Center Facebook page talking about our vulnerable population. In the video, he states that it will be up to each individual to evaluate their personal risk factors and risk tolerance. Those who are older, or have underlying health conditions should consider continuing to stay home. Grande Ronde Hospital also published a video today on their Facebook page highlighting how to continue to stay safe with the Phase 1 reopening plan. Tomorrow the La Grande Farmers Market will open their 2020 season. There will be significant measures taken to protect the health of customers, vendors, and the community. The total count of positive and presumptive Oregon COVID-19 cases is 3,541.
